Beeswax

Beeswax is created by worker bees who secrete it from their wax-producing Special glands. Honey bees use this wax to build honeycomb cells which house their larvae and food. Beekeepers harvest wax from the hive after extracting the honey, generally using an uncapping knife or a machine to do so.

Typically tough, beeswax is formed from a mixture of several compounds. It has a high melting point, which makes it the perfect material for making candles.

Even though it is most commonly used in candle making, beeswax is also used in:

  • Cosmetics & pharmaceuticals
  • Coating for cheeses
  • Skin care products
  • Surgical bones
  • Shoe & furniture polish
  • Musical equipment & maintenance
  • Lubricants
  • Ointments & balms
  • Non-toxic wood finish

It can even be used to help cracked horse hooves when mixed with honey.

Propolis

Created from a combination of sap, resin and gum exuded from the bark, leaves or buds of trees and shrubs collected by bees.

Due to propolis being anti bacterial, anti septic, anti viral and anti fungal, it has a number of health benefits. With a number of important vitamins, propolis can help boost your immune system when taken orally.

Propolis can help with a range of issues including:

  • Immune function
  • Disorders of the gut & gastric ulcers
  • Inflammations like gingivitis, tonsillitis & bronchitis
  • Throat & mouth infections
  • Acne, boils & cold sores

Available in capsules, oils, tincture and soaps, propolis is another natural product that is great for you. Contact Red Centre Honey to find out how propolis might be the natural health-boost you’ve been looking for.

Royal Jelly

Royal jelly is a secretion produced by bees to feed the larvae throughout the hive. It’s a rich source of vitamins and minerals, and a great source of nutrition.

Interestingly, science is unable to reproduce royal jelly; making it something only honey bees can produce. It’s often sold as a dietary supplement as it contains vitamins A, C, D and E, making it a great way to help increase strength in your bones and teeth.

Royal jelly is also sometimes used in skincare and natural beauty products as it’s said to help reduce the signs of ageing.

However, royal jelly can have adverse effects on those who suffer from allergies, ranging from hives to extreme cases of anaphylaxis.

If you’re not sure whether propolis products are right for you, contact Red Centre Honey for more information on its potential benefits.
